Why do I need a second package to show widgets?
Widgets render with a small script from Bragly's CDN. EmDash only allows trusted, npm-installed plugins to add scripts to public pages. This registry plugin is sandboxed, so it handles the connection and SEO markup, and @braglyio/emdash-widgets handles display.
What data does the plugin access?
The plugin only talks to app.bragly.io. It doesn't read your content, media, or users. The API token is stored encrypted.
I enabled review stars but nothing shows up.
Check that your Bragly plan includes rich snippets, that rich snippets are turned on for the selected widget or wall, and that it has rated public reviews. The plugin page warns you when Bragly returns no markup. Search engines decide whether to show stars, so it can take a while for them to appear.
How fresh is the review markup?
The plugin caches it for 15 minutes.
Installation
1. Connect your Bragly account
- In Bragly, open Chrome Extension in your team's sidebar and click Generate token.
- In EmDash, open Plugins → Bragly, paste the token, and click Connect.
Your site needs EMDASH_ENCRYPTION_KEY set so the token can be encrypted at rest.
2. Turn on review stars (optional)
Under Review Stars in Google, pick the widget or Wall of Love whose reviews should be used and choose where the markup appears. The plugin adds review JSON-LD to those pages. Your Bragly plan must include rich snippets.
3. Show widgets on your pages
Plugins installed from the registry can't add scripts to public pages, so on-page widgets come from the companion npm package:
pnpm add @braglyio/emdash-widgets
// astro.config.mjs
import { braglyWidgets } from "@braglyio/emdash-widgets";
export default defineConfig({
integrations: [emdash({ plugins: [braglyWidgets()] })],
});
Then type /Bragly Widget in any rich-text field and paste a Widget ID from the Bragly plugin page.
For a floating widget on every page, open Plugins → Bragly Widgets → Settings and set Floating Widget ID.
