Overview

DodoLaunch is a free launch board for SaaS, AI tools, and Mac apps. This plugin builds the official product badge for your DodoLaunch page.

Save your product slug, or paste a https://dodolaunch.com/p/… URL, and choose a light or dark style. The Badge page gives you HTML and Markdown that link to your product page and load the badge image from DodoLaunch, including its live vote count. Put that HTML in a public part of your EmDash site. The footer is enough.

Featured and weekly rank artwork are available when your product has earned them. The Launched badge is the one documented for every product.

The plugin does not call DodoLaunch. Visitors' browsers load the image. It asks for no content, media, or network access.

Free launches get a dofollow link while the badge stays on a page DodoLaunch can fetch. Boost and Pro launches keep a dofollow link without the badge.

FAQ

Does this plugin call DodoLaunch?

No. Saving a badge stores the slug, style, and badge type in the site's plugin settings. The HTML points at https://dodolaunch.com/badge/your-slug, and the visitor's browser loads that image.

Where should the badge go?

Anywhere DodoLaunch can fetch it: a public page, in the HTML of the first response. The footer is enough. A badge that appears only after a click, or only for logged-in visitors, is not on the page their check reads.

Will this make my DodoLaunch link dofollow?

Free launches get a dofollow link while the badge stays on your site. If it disappears, DodoLaunch emails you and keeps the link dofollow for a 7-day grace period. Boost and Pro launches keep a dofollow link without the badge. The current rules are on the transparency page.

What is the Featured badge?

Launched is the default, and it is the embed shown in the DodoLaunch developer docs. Featured, and the weekly #1, #2, and #3 artwork, change the image only when your product has earned that placement.

What does the public embed route return?

GET /_emdash/api/plugins/dodolaunch-badge/embed returns the saved link, image URL, HTML, and Markdown. Optional theme and type query parameters override the response for that request. The route is read-only. It returns NOT_CONFIGURED until you save a product.

Changelog

0.1.0

First release. Save a DodoLaunch product slug or URL, choose a light or dark badge, and copy the official HTML or Markdown embed. A dashboard widget and a public read-only embed route use the same saved settings.

Installation

Install from the registry

  1. In the EmDash admin, open Registry.
  2. Search for DodoLaunch Badge and open the release from DodoLaunch.
  3. Review the release. It requests no content, media, or network access. It adds one public read-only route, /_emdash/api/plugins/dodolaunch-badge/embed.
  4. Select Install, review the consent dialog, and confirm.

The site needs a sandbox runner before registry plugins can load. On Cloudflare Workers use sandbox() from @emdash-cms/cloudflare and a Worker Loader binding named LOADER. On Node.js install @emdash-cms/sandbox-workerd and workerd, then set sandboxRunner to @emdash-cms/sandbox-workerd/sandbox.

Add your badge

  1. Open Plugins, then DodoLaunch Badge, then Badge.
  2. Enter your product slug, such as notchdodo, or the product URL https://dodolaunch.com/p/notchdodo.
  3. Choose light or dark. Leave the badge on Launched unless DodoLaunch has awarded Featured or a weekly rank.
  4. Save. Copy the HTML into a public page. The footer is a good place. DodoLaunch checks the HTML it can fetch, so the badge needs to be in the first response, on a page that is not behind a login.

The same page includes a Markdown version. Preview badge opens the live SVG.

Render the saved badge from a layout

A server-rendered page can read the saved settings from the public route:

---
const endpoint = new URL("/_emdash/api/plugins/dodolaunch-badge/embed", Astro.url);
const response = await fetch(endpoint);
const payload = await response.json();
const badge = payload?.data?.configured ? payload.data : null;
---
{badge && <Fragment set:html={badge.html} />}

Add ?theme=dark to the route when that page is dark. The query does not change the saved style. If fetching your own site during render is awkward, paste the HTML from the Badge page. Pasted HTML stays in the page source without a request.
