Overview
Keyboard Sizes answers the questions that come up when you write about keyboards or desk setups: how much smaller is a 75% than a TKL, which keys does a 65% drop, and will that keyboard and a large mousepad fit on a 120 cm desk?
It uses the data behind the HLPlanet keyboard size comparison, which draws every layout to scale, plus the case sizes of 30 keyboards measured in HLPlanet keyboard reviews.
What you get
- Keyboard Sizes page in the admin, with five tabs:
- Sizes: full-size, 98%, TKL, 75%, 65% and 60%, with key counts, typical dimensions, missing keys and who each one suits.
- Compare: two or three sizes or keyboards side by side, with width and depth differences and the keys you lose or gain.
- Desk fit: whether a keyboard and mousepad fit on a desk, how far the mouse sits from the screen centre, and whether a full 360° turn fits at your sensitivity.
- Find a key: which sizes keep Delete, F5, Page Up, the arrow keys or the numpad.
- Measured keyboards: 30 keyboards with their measured width and depth and a link to each review.
- Keyboard specs panel in the content editor: pick a keyboard or size, optionally compare it with another, and get its dimensions, missing keys and a ready-to-paste sentence with its source.
- Six MCP tools for AI assistants connected to your site: list sizes, compare keyboards, get dimensions, check desk fit, find which sizes have a key, and list free keyboard and controller testing tools.

The data ships inside the plugin. It never reads your content, stores nothing, and makes no network requests. Links open the matching HLPlanet page in a new tab, for example the online keyboard tester for checking a new keyboard.
Permissions
Plugins get only the capabilities they declare and you approve. Your EmDash admin lists these again before anything installs.
FAQ
Where do the numbers come from?
Standard sizes are built from their key layouts: 19.05 mm per key plus an estimated 10 mm case border. Real keyboards use the case width and depth measured in each HLPlanet review. Both match the HLPlanet keyboard size comparison.
Does it support ISO layouts?
Yes. Compare and Find a key have an ISO toggle for UK and EU layouts with the tall Enter and the extra key next to left Shift.
Can I add my own keyboards?
Not yet. The keyboard list follows HLPlanet's reviews and grows with new releases of the plugin. Suggest one in the issue tracker.
Does it add anything to my public pages?
No. Everything stays in the admin. The editor panel only gives you text to paste; it never edits an entry.
