FAQ

How is time estimated? NFC Japanese Han/kana/ー characters use an assumed 600/min; Latin words and digit groups use 200 units/min. Durations are added and rounded up. These are assumptions, not measured reader speed or SEO results.

What is excluded? Whitespace, punctuation and emoji add no time. Other-script letters and Portable Text code, images and unsupported blocks/spans are excluded; the result and copied label say partial. Plain text is literal, without Markdown/HTML parsing. No estimate is shown for empty or unsupported-only text.

What are the limits? One top-level Portable Text/text/string field; serialized JSON up to 128KiB and 2,000 Portable Text blocks. Over-limit data is rejected, not silently truncated. No image-reading time. No automatic article edits.

Which version of my body? Saved draft data or the published body. Unsaved typing and published entries' pending revisions are not read. Measure again after saving. No raw body is echoed or stored by this plugin.

How do I copy or get help? Select the displayed English/Japanese label and Cmd/Ctrl+C. Report plugin version, field type and error description to contact@lx3.cafe; omit private article text. Free, no paid edition sold.

日本語の計算は？ NFC後の漢字・かな・ーを仮定600字/分、Latin単語と数字群を200units/分で加算・切上げ。実測速度ではありません。除外時は部分推定、空本文等は推定なし。未保存入力・未公開改訂は対象外。手動コピーで利用し、本文の自動変更・外部送信はありません。

Security and privacy

Permissions: content:read and schema:read only. The private editor panel uses the host's saved-entry context and edit/ownership checks. Anonymous users and users without editing permission cannot open it.

The plugin reads one saved field to calculate counts. It does not return raw body text, persist a report, contact external services, collect analytics, schedule tasks or change articles. It has no public route, API keys or paid API dependency. Copying and inserting a label are manual user actions.

Report vulnerabilities privately to contact@lx3.cafe. Include version and reproduction steps without credentials or private article text.

Installation / 導入

Install LLL Reading Time / 読了時間 (reading-time) through the official EmDash Plugin Registry in your admin. Requires EmDash 1.4+, Astro 6+ and a working sandbox runner. This editor-only utility does not need a public site URL.

Requires an author who owns the article, or an editor/admin. Open a saved article editor and its Reading Time / 読了時間 panel. Choose one saved Portable Text, text or string field and your language, then measure. Select the displayed label and use Cmd/Ctrl+C; paste it manually into the article. No automatic insertion or clipboard permission.

The panel reads saved data. Unsaved typing is excluded. For published articles it reads the published body, excluding pending unpublished revisions. Saved draft entries can be measured. Reopen or measure again after saving.

Free features are complete: counts, estimated duration and English/Japanese copy labels. No paid edition is sold.
